I'm happy to report that due to PECG's opposition and the opposition of other groups, Senator George Runner pulled SB 1227 from the Senate Education Committee calendar last night and the bill will not be heard on April 21.   Given the Senate requirement that fiscal bills (like SB 1227) must clear policy committee by April 23, this bill is dead for this year.   

 SB 1227 called for the elimination of the Field Act and the Division of State Architect (DSA) by transferring school construction plan review and oversight from DSA to local building departments. 

As always, PECG will be monitoring the situation closely and will be there to oppose this or similar legislation should it appear in another bill this year or in the future.   PECG is and will continue to be the most effective and ardent defender of the Field Act and the DSA employees who enforce it.  Thank you for your support.
