Annual Salary Survey
Each year, PECG and CalHR (representing the Governor’s Office) jointly conduct a salary survey of Engineers and related professionals employed by 18 of California’s larger counties and cities, plus the University of California system. Data is collected, compiled, and published.
This year, the survey results show a 2.2% lag for state employees at the entry (Range A/B) level, a 5.9% lag at journey (licensed/Range D); and a 5.3% lag at the Senior/Supervisor level. These were the lags prior to PECG reaching agreement with the State on a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The new MOU provides Bargaining Unit 9 employees with a 4.5% pay raise, retroactive to July 1, 2018, and another 4% pay raise on July 1, 2019. The new MOU also provides two groundbreaking economic benefits — state experience pay and a geographic pay differential for those working in certain high-cost areas.
